God Is Listening

“God heard the boy crying, and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven and said to her, ‘What is the matter, Hagar? Do not be afraid; God has heard the boy crying as he lies there. Lift the boy up and take him by the hand, for I will make him into a great nation.’ Then God opened her eyes and she saw a well of water. So she went and filled the skin with water and gave the boy a drink.” —Genesis 21:17-19 (NIV)

“You have kept count of my tossings; put my tears in your bottle. Are they not in your book?” —Psalm 56:8 (ESV)

God always hears the cries of His children. —Psalm 56:8

Do you feel like God is not listening to you when you cry out to Him? Do you feel like you have been left alone in the desert to figure things out on your own? This scenario does not describe the God we serve. How can you forgo your stubborn ways and praise God in the storm? Here is an example that you can pray right now:

Heavenly Father, thank You for always hearing Your children's voice when we get to the end of ourselves. Today I acknowledge that only You understand when I cry; only You have seen what lies in the past. Only You, God, have seen how I have been betrayed, and only You have the power to help me stand. Lord, please show me my stubborn heart. Please, quench my soul’s thirst. I admit, I have not been seeking your protection for my healing. I confess that I have furthered my own suffering by not believing You are the Protector of my life, and I need to do things Your way from now on. Thank you, Jesus, for bridging the gap on the cross, bringing forth Your Holy Spirit, our true Living Water. Amen.
